Thank You For Your Service by Torthell Robinson

While I was walking around the Detroit Book Festival at Eastern Market last weekend, I encountered a wonderful man who writes children's books with heart and tremendous respect, reminding us all what an honor it is to serve.

This book is written in rhyme, paying tribute to each of the brances of United States Military... Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Space Force. Each page highlights the men and women who serve and how they serve... but not just when in uniform. This book also pays tribute to Veterans when they are out of uniform, too, as parents, siblings, and friends.

The illustrations are vibrant and inclusive, giving each child (and Veteran) a chance to see themselves in the pages. And, at the back of the book, the author included a QR code readers can scan to get a free download of coloring pages!

I love that this story shares the positive aspects of our men and women in military service with children in a way that reminds us all why it's important to say THANK YOU to those who, in many different ways, take risks with their own lives to keep the rest of us safe.
